A Production of the Ellensburg Dance Ensemble & Central Washington University with Live Orchestration!
The shadow of war hangs over the Stahlbaum family as their eldest brother, Alexander, prepares to leave with his battalion. Before his departure, Alexander gifts his sister Clara a precious music box that plays their favorite waltz. Clara places the key to the music box around his neck, with a promise for him to return it to her. But when a mischievous mouse steals the key, Clara quickly sets off in pursuit, embarking on an unexpected magical adventure.
Holiday magic comes to life during The Nutcracker & The Battle for the Key, presented by Ellensburg Dance Ensemble (EDE) in partnership with Central Washington University (CWU). In this reimagined production, Clara’s quest to recover the stolen key takes her through the Snow Queen’s frosty kingdom, the vibrant Land of Sweets, and a dramatic confrontation with the elusive Sugar Plum Fairy. The CWU Orchestra will bring Tchaikovsky’s famous score to life with a live performance, adding even more wonder to this timeless story of family, hope, and courage.
A heartwarming tale full of adventure and enchantment, The Nutcracker & The Battle for the Key is a family-friendly show featuring talented local dancers, ages 8 to adult. This beloved holiday tradition will once again delight Ellensburg audiences with its stunning choreography, live orchestration, and magical storytelling.
