EDE Competition Dance Team

The EDE Competition Dance Team is a vibrant and dedicated group of young performers ages 5–18, united by their passion for dance and their commitment to growth, teamwork, and excellence. Dancers are placed on teams based on their skill level, experience, and dedication, with opportunities ranging from beginner to advanced levels. Every dancer is challenged in a supportive environment that nurtures both technique and artistry. At EDE, our competition dancers are more than performers—they are leaders, role models, and part of a supportive family where creativity and dedication are celebrated. We’re proud to provide an environment that pushes dancers to reach their full potential both on and off the stage.

A Multidisciplinary Training Experience

Team members train across a wide range of styles, allowing them to become well-rounded performers. Core styles include jazz, lyrical, contemporary, hip-hop, musical theatre, and tap, with ballet required for foundational technique. Depending on team placement, dancers may also train in acro to enhance their versatility and stage presence.

Dancers will learn 2-3 group routines in the styles mentioned above for competition, but there are also opportunities to compete solos, duets, and trios!

Commitment & Expectations

Team dancers commit to a full season, typically running from June through May. Summer opportunities are also available and include a performance or two during Rodeo/Fair week.  At minimum, dancers must attend a weekly technique class (ballet is preferred) and choreography rehearsals. A strong work ethic, positive attitude, and dedication to personal and team growth are essential. Parent involvement is not only welcomed but encouraged—especially in supporting fundraising efforts and organizing events.

Performances & Competitions

Throughout the season, dancers represent EDE at 2–3 regional competitions and may choose to attend an optional dance convention for extended learning and inspiration. The team is also a visible presence in the community, performing in required events such as the annual recital, the Halloween Harvest Festival, and the Ellensburg Rodeo Parade. Additional performance opportunities may arise throughout the year, from local fairs and university collaborations to special EDE events and community showcases.

Investment & Support

Participation in the competition team involves an investment of time, energy, and finances. Monthly tuition averages around $115 for two classes. Additional costs include competition entry fees, costumes, team warmups, travel expenses, and optional convention participation. To help families manage these costs, EDE offers a wide variety of fundraising opportunities, including sponsorships, bake sales, car washes, raffles, restaurant takeovers, and community-based events like dance-a-thons and showcase nights.
